The Kandrács, a Romani family of seventeen, have recently been displaced, against their will, from their original home in Vsetin by local authorities. They endure many hardships at their new home, which does not have running water or working electricity. Most of the rooms in the house are dilapidated and the walls have molded, but the family does its best with the 2 rooms in the home that are sufficient for living.

Marie Kandrácova plays with an umbrella outside of her home in Stará Cervená Voda. The family does not live in that section of the house because the roof has fallen in and it is very dangerous.

Beat up shoes litter the floor of the Kandrác household. There are seven children under the age of five living in the home.
  
Jan Kandrác jumps down from the window as his cousin Marie plays by sweeping the dirt in the yard.
   
Barbora, is six months pregnant. This will be her second child.
     
  
   
Miroslav stands in their rubble filled attic. He says they would like to convert it into a living space so that the family is not so crowded.
  
Jasmina sits in the kitchen, waiting for dinner.
     
  
Zofie and Jasmina sleep together on a futon in the family’s living room. Each night, the living spaces are turned into sleeping spaces as the family pulls out futons and blows up air mattresses for the seventeen members.
